1. Ahonui is Strengthened in Suffering
Romans 5:3–5 (NIV) 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance (AHONUI); 4 perseverance (AHONUI), character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
2. Ahonui is Developed in Discipline
2 Peter 1:5–7 (NIV) 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance (AHONUI); and to (AHONUI), godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
3. Ahonui is Cultivated in Christ
Galatians 5:22–23 (CSB)22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience (AHONUI), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.
Colossians 1:11–12 (ESV)11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance (AHONUI) and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
