1. Giving in Secret: What Jesus Taught About True Generosity

   Matthew 6:1-4

   “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

   2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

   1. Never Give to be Seen By Others. 1-2

   2. Give in Secret and You Will Be Blessed.. 3-4 Then I have 4 additional verses to support point 2.

      1. Acts 20:35 (NIV) - "remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

      2. Proverbs 11:25 (NIV) - "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

      3. Luke 6:38 (NIV) - "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap."

      4. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV) - "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."
