1. Ahonui is Strengthened in Suffering

Romans 5:3–5 (NIV) ³ Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance (AHONUI); ⁴ perseverance (AHONUI), character; and character, hope. ⁵ And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

2 Peter 1:5–7 (NIV) ⁵ For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; ⁶ and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance (AHONUI); and to (AHONUI), godliness; ⁷ and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

3. Ahonui is Cultivated in Christ

Galatians 5:22–23 (CSB)²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience (AHONUI), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.

Colossians 1:11–12 (ESV)¹¹ being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance (AHONUI) and patience with joy; ¹² giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
