Jesus calms the storm

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping ~Matthew 8:23–24~

1. God uses storms to expose what’s in me.

25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” ~Matthew 8:25~
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” ~Mark 4:38~

2. God uses storms to build my trust in Him.

26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” ~Matthew 8:26-27~

3. God uses storms to reveal His presence and power.

26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” ~Matthew 8:26-27~

What to Remember in the Storm

Remember Jesus knows I’m here

Remember Jesus is with me

Remember Jesus is greater than what I fear

24 And behold, there arose a great (MEGAS) storm on the sea…

26 Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great (MEGAS) calm

You’re Safer in the Storm with Jesus, than on the Shore without Him
