Water Baptism is a public declaration of our identification with Jesus; His death, burial and resurrection. By being water baptized you are publicly saying that you have died to yourself and have decided to follow Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself exemplifies the importance of Water Baptism by being baptized by John the Baptist.
Water Baptism is a simple act that has enormous spiritual significance:
- It is an irrevocable decision for us to say that I want to die to the old and live in the new.
- It's a declaration that because I am in Christ Jesus, I am a new creation. I have been born again into a new life in Jesus.
- Water baptism is a living and public expression, not just private commitment in our hearts. It is reflected in our lives, in our families and in our worship.
